from England – you can say for Lithuanian, that you searching a labor for work in UK. In most cases people will like you. In other cases, if you meet not simple workers, they will understand you. Ask for “Cepelinai”

.. from Germany. You can tell that you working in WV, BMW or Audi. Lithuanians loves that cars and love people who made them. You can tell them that Germany beer is the best, but second is Lithuanian. Or you can replace order. Ask for “Cepelinai”.

.... from France, you can say that you come to revolt. Lithuanians almost do not make trouble for police, but a revolution sounds so romantic. Also, if you want to make more impression, you can tell that sometimes you making original vine. Ask for “Cepelinai”

...from Spain, you should tell that you love basketball. Also tell that when you watching Eurobasket or Olympics you see only one competitor for Spain – Lithuania national basketball team. Ask for cepelinai.

... Turkey..Wait, it not matters were you from. Lithuanians do not see differences when peoples skin is a little bit darker than Lithuanians. So, you can always tell that Kebabs in Lithuania sucks and you will open a restaurant were you will serve real Turkish dish. Or, you can tell that you owning Kebabs network in Lithuania. ...from Poland, do not say, that Vilnius is part of Poland. Because isint. Tell that you don’t like Legia or Lech. Ask for “Cepelinai”.

...from Russia, just tell that you are not going to make a federation from Lithuania. Drink vodka with Lithuanian. Ask for “Cepelinai”.

....from Asia (yes, it not matters were from, because Lithuanians do not see differences when looking to Korean, Japan or China) tell that you are Asian food guru well known in your country. But you want to try local dishes to bring them to Asian cusine. So… Yes. Ask for “Cepelinai”

...from USA. Tell that you love basketball. If you really love, don’t tell if you think that NBA is stronger than Euroleague. Also, tell that burgers come from USA and you know perfect recipe. Ask for “Cepelinai”.

And.. What is fucking “CEPELINAI” ? No, you do not want to try them. 

Transport in Vilnius: TAXI

If you going to visit Vilnius and you will arive to Vilnius airport, you should know, that there is only three ways to reach a center (to be honnest, Vilnius airport is not long way from city center, there is only +- 5-10 km):

Public transport (bus)
Taxi
And, of course: your legs : )

This time I will talk about taxi in Vilnius. I think it usefull info fro those who visit our city. Lithuania has two types of taxi: private (this is bussines) and owned by city municipality (they tries to make some money).

Also, a taxi we can divide by cars. A little bit of them are very new. But most of them are pretty old. A taxi cars in Vilnius looks like that:

What you should know:

If you arriving to Vilnius airport, you better call taxi by phone. If you use taxi from airport, you will have to pay additional tax for that. To call taxi is cheaper. Ask information or other people to call taxi for you.

I dont know did they use a English language, but if you going to visit Vilnius "etaksi" is app what you should have. With this very usefull aplication you will be able to get taxi via your smart phone (also you will see approx price for your travel).

If you decided to take car from street sit only in new taxi and search for texts like "Vilnius Veza" , "Smart Taxi", "Jazz express". This is because a drivers who drives old cars, then they see that they passanger is not lithuanian, may cheat. So you will have to pay much more. If you think that you charged not fair - ask driver for a bill and tell him that you will call police. In most cases, if driver tryies to cheat, it will reduce price. 

A price for 1 km in taxi in Lithuania is from 0,57 to 1,2 EUR. So from Vilnius Airport to Vilnius Center (Cathedral squere) is about 8 km. So, your price should be not bigger than 10 EUR in any case.

Food prices in Lithuania

Sometimes people may want to know how much cost food in Lithuania. Bellow you will find an approx prices of most used products in euros. Check it out:

Milk: 0,5 Euro for 1 L
Bread: about 0,80 Euro for 500 g.
Beef: 6,6 Euro for 1 KG
Eggs: 1,22 Euro for 10 eggs
Pork: 3,6 Euro for 1 kg
Cod: 5,5 Euro for 1 Kg



For best prices in Lithuania you should look in supermarkets, which is a lot of in all cities. Some of them are bigger (like real supermarkets), some smaller. You will not find a lot of small independent shops, almost all they are a part of one or other super market.

There is logos of supermarkets. Near each you will find a little description.

"Maxima" is the biggest trade network in Lithuania. Here you should go if you are searching for a good prices and ability to choose.

"Iki" is a nice looking market, which are little expensive than "Maxima". But here you can find much more gourmet products. And it seems it is better quality products here.

"Rimi" is same like "Iki". But I recomend this network if you are searching for a quality meat.

"Norfa" is cheapest network in Lithuania. It has some troubles, but if you searching for cheapest price, you should go here.

Minimum wage in Lithuania

Some travelers want to know, how much sallary gets lithuanian. From next year, Lithuanian official currency will be Euro (like in all other countries of EU), so here is wages of lithuanian people.

Minimal wage (more than 50 % of population getting it): 290 EUR.
Average salary: 639 EUR.

In London, for minimal wage a man can buy about 80 sandwiches in local, cheap market place, somewere near WhiteCheapel road.

In Rome lithuanian who gets minimal wage will be able to buy about 30 pizz'as or about 80 cups of expresso cofee.

So, if you are investor or looking for a cheap labor - Lithuania is place for you.

Lets start to blog about Lithuania. Yes, it is maybe little bit confusing for you - blogging about fuc***ng WHAT? And you in most ways are right - Lithuania is very small country in Eastern Europe, near Baltic Sea.

But - it is beutifull, intresting and, of course funny. So in this blog I will write a intresting/usefull info about my country.

Okey - Lithuania is that country about what talked Mel Gibson, when he said: "Lithuanians with sharp teeth crawling up the beach with golf clubs to beat your brains out". Oh.. Some of lithuanians may want to beat brains out, but not all. Okey, forget - Mel apoligized for this.

About us singed Cole Porter. Oh, well it was long time ago, but even he know our country and singed -  "In Spain, the best upper sets do it Lithuanians and Letts do it Let's do it, let's fall in love". So Lithuanians DO IT. Be sure.

Okey, okey it was long time ago - we have 2 lithuanians in the NBA - Jonas Valančiūnas and Donatas Motiejūnas. Of course, Motiejūnas is more fan with year membership to the bench of players.. If you like NBA, basketball you should know Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, Arvydas Sabonis, Šarūnas Mačiūlionis and Linas Kleiza, Šarūnas Jasikevičius and Arvydas Macijauskas. Yes, last two sometimes hard to remember even for lithuanians

Motiejunas most time sits on the bench

A basketball means a lot of for Lithuanians, but is some fun things about that. You see, lithuanians calls themselfes as basketball country. They says that "basketball is our religion.". BUT. We never won Olympics with a basketball team. More - we never played for GOLD in Olympics... Of course, we won 3 bronze medals in 6 appearances in the Olympics, but.. Only one time our club won Euroleague - it was 15 years ago.. But a lot of Lithuania people thinks that we still are basketball team.

In the USA, as we know - people loves ice hockey. We have a Dainius Zubrus, who plays there. Some time ago, other player - Darius Kasparaitis was one of dirtest defencmans in National Hockey League...

And about Lithuania.. It is long story.. A climate here is normal, but most time we have rain. Only one difference from UK about rain - we do not have a fog. Most people are friendly and... We have winters with -25 by celsius. And... But wait- this is what about this blog will be. Let me have topics for a feature : )
