Transport in Vilnius: TAXI

If you going to visit Vilnius and you will arive to Vilnius airport, you should know, that there is only three ways to reach a center (to be honnest, Vilnius airport is not long way from city center, there is only +- 5-10 km):

Public transport (bus)
Taxi
And, of course: your legs : )

This time I will talk about taxi in Vilnius. I think it usefull info fro those who visit our city. Lithuania has two types of taxi: private (this is bussines) and owned by city municipality (they tries to make some money).

Also, a taxi we can divide by cars. A little bit of them are very new. But most of them are pretty old. A taxi cars in Vilnius looks like that:

What you should know:

If you arriving to Vilnius airport, you better call taxi by phone. If you use taxi from airport, you will have to pay additional tax for that. To call taxi is cheaper. Ask information or other people to call taxi for you.

I dont know did they use a English language, but if you going to visit Vilnius "etaksi" is app what you should have. With this very usefull aplication you will be able to get taxi via your smart phone (also you will see approx price for your travel).

If you decided to take car from street sit only in new taxi and search for texts like "Vilnius Veza" , "Smart Taxi", "Jazz express". This is because a drivers who drives old cars, then they see that they passanger is not lithuanian, may cheat. So you will have to pay much more. If you think that you charged not fair - ask driver for a bill and tell him that you will call police. In most cases, if driver tryies to cheat, it will reduce price. 

A price for 1 km in taxi in Lithuania is from 0,57 to 1,2 EUR. So from Vilnius Airport to Vilnius Center (Cathedral squere) is about 8 km. So, your price should be not bigger than 10 EUR in any case.
